The men of Nigeria police force, Bayelsa state command has ordered an investigation of four police officers who allegedly extort N20 million from two alleged internet fraudsters, also known as Yahoo Yahoo boys.

It was alleged that the internet fraudsters were extorted through the manipulations of one Eyi Matthew, a former House of Assembly member, under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The accused police officers acted on the information gathered from Matthew, and invaded the residence of the alleged yahoo boys.

It was gathered that the Yahoo boys are indigenes of Bayelsa state, but based in Ghana.

However, the police officers arrested the boys, blind folded them and took them to an unknown hotel in Azikoro town.

The officers threatened to kill the boys, claiming that they were accused of theft in Ghana. They however, requested for N50 million, but the boys later paid N20 million.

A friend of the victims who heard about the incident reported the matter to the Nigeria Police headquarters and investigation showed that the Assistant Inspector General of police, Zone 16, Benjamin Okolo, immediately ordered the arrest of the police officers who involved in the illegal act.

However, it was asserted that the police officers had returned N2.5 million they each made from the alleged yahoo boy extortion, and Eyi Matthew who gave the police the informations about the Ghana based Nigerians, had returned his own share.
