Military Unleashes Mayhem On Protesting Youths in Bayelsa

Following the protest by youths of Brass, in the Sangana community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, a youth has allegedly been killed and a few others missing and many injured after military personnel unleashed mayhem on them.

It was gathered that the youths were descended on by the military men for protesting at Conoil Offshore environment. The youth’s name is identified as Mr Imiowori Benson.

It was reported that the angry youths stormed the facility of Consolidated Oil and Gas Limited, in demand of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Oil company and the community, Sangana.

However, the military in charge of the offshore security identified as “Antie The Matriarch Julie” shot at the protesters at sight.

The community youth president, Mr Ambrose Timipre, confirmed the sad incident and maintained that the protesters are offshore to state their displeasure with the company.

He stated that it is disheartening how people who are meant to protect the citizens are the ones killing the citizens.

Mr Ambrose Timipre maintained that the ugly incident led to the death of one of the protesters, while many are currently receiving treatment at FMC, Yenagoa.

It was gathered that the oil company had been operating in the community for the past 25 years and had not met the demands of the community.
