Groups Harp For Girl Child’s Education, Empowerment

The Society of Petroleum Engineers, also known as the SPE section 104 D&I team in collaboration with the Effurun Royal Lion Club joined other colleagues at the Ogbe secondary School Effurun to celebrate this year’s International Day for the Girl’s Child.

The event was a huge success as it emphasised strongly the gains and prospects of the girl child’s education and empowerment in the 21st-century society.

The guest lecturer of the event, Ms Joy Favour on a Topic Titled: “Importance of Girl Child Education/Empowerment,” urged parents to make it a priority to train and empower their girl child.

The lecturer further emphasised that there are more benefits the society and parents would derive from educating and empowering the girl child.

Other speakers at the event were the chairman of SPE section 104 Dr Eddy Okoh and the president of Effurun Royal Lion Club, Mr Chiedu Augustine.

However, the high point of the event was the free distribution of Sanitary Pads to the female students to encourage clean personal hygiene among the girl child.
