Olu Of Warri Bags Most Youth Friendly Traditional Ruler Award

The Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, Thursday bagged the award of the Most Youth Friendly Traditional Ruler in Delta State.

The award was presented to the traditional ruler by the Coalition of Delta Indigenous Youth Leaders Forum while paying a courtesy visit to the palace.

The group which is said to be the apex youth organisation in the state was geared towards Promoting Security, Peace and unity in Delta State.

While speaking at Olu’s of Warri’s palace, the chairman of the group, Comrade Gometi Crested said the youth apex body was aimed at uniting and empowering the youths towards restoring the glory of Delta State.

He further stated that the Award was given in recognition and appreciation of his strategic role in the nation’s building, especially in the inculcation of Peace, Religious tolerance, Cultural development and contributions to the general public, especially the youths of Delta State.

He described the Olu of Warri as one of the traditional rulers in the state who truly understood the pains of Deltans and had taken several practical steps to change the narratives.

The group, however, thanked the traditional ruler for the numerous youth empowerment programmes directed towards alleviating poverty and positively engaging the youths for maximum productivity which aimed at curbing the alarming rate of crimes and criminality among the youths.

They emphasised that this was in line with one of its major objectives which focused on bringing violent youths from the street into meaningful services through constructive engagement.

According to the group, “The initiative is result-oriented and must be rewarded accordingly.

“We look forward to more of these kinds of intervention Programmes from other Stakeholders in Delta State, and we would not hesitate to take the same step to reward as many that key into the current wave of restoring our lost glory as a state.

“We are a non-violence organization. Our major target is to redeem the bad image outsiders placed on the youths of Delta State, whereby creating a peaceful and conducive environment for local and international investors to operate smoothly in the State,” the group averred.
