Gunmen abduct Catholic priest in Akwa Ibom

Suspected gunmen have abducted a Catholic priest Rev.Fr Alphonsus Uboh, in Ikot Abasi Akpan along Ekparakwa Etinan road in Mkpat Enin LGA of Akwa Ibom state on Sunday.

Congress gathered that the communities in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State had expressed worry following the prevalent kidnapping and killing of innocent individuals in the area.

A source said the Rev.Fr Alphonsus Uboh, was abducted at the premises of his parish located at Ikot Abasi Akpan along Ekparakwa Etinan road in Mkpat Enin LGA.

Some communities where residents are being abducted at will in the state include Ekparakwa, villages along Ekparakwa/Ikot Abasi road in OrukAnam Local Government Area as well as Ikot Ebak, Ikot Akaam, Ibekwe Akpan axis in Mkpat council areas of the state.

The Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Mcdon,
in a telephone interview, confirmed the abduction of the Catholic priest and other activities of gunmen in the area and promised to end criminal activities in the area.

“We have received that report from the area and we are working on it,” he added.
