6 soldiers shot dead, commanding Officer abducted by terrorists

About six soldiers of the 93 battalion, Takun, Taraba State were murdered during suspected terrorists/bandits attack on a convoy carrying the Commanding Officer of the Battalion on Tuesday morning.

It was gathered that the Commanding office convoy was ambushed when he was heading to Jalingo at about 6.30am around Tati village on Tuesday.

A source said the attack led to the death of 6 soldiers including one Staff Sergeant, two staff Sergeants, and three Lance Corporals and abduction of the commanding officer.

However, troops in a counter blockade operations at Ananum village, around Donga, dismantled and neutralized two bandits/terrorists as many others escaped into the bush with gunshot injuries.

The source said troops in reinforcements from Mararaba in Nasarawa state, have embarked on anti-ambush drills to overpower the bandits.

Meantime, items recovered from the bandits included AK 47 rifle, AK47 Magazines, locally made gun and several rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

The Nigerian army in Taraba State is yet to comment on the issue at press time.
