Police nab man for raping minor in Calabar

A man ’74’, identified as Bassey Inyang who is a driver has been nabbed by the police for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old minor in his room in Calabar, Cross River State.

The old man who was accused of defiling the 12years girl had been detained in police custody since the weekend.

According to a close source, the parents of the victim alerted the community heads, after discovering a blood flow from the girl’s private part.

However, the Secretary of Ikot Edet Etim village in Efut Abua West clan in the Mbukpa area, Mr Pendo Ned, narrated: “When we got this information, the community head Muri Ebuka Ebuka directed that the suspect be brought before him.

“The suspect had confessed to the heinous crime before the community. We seriously condemned such crime against minors reported to be perpetrated by the suspect, which reason we had invited the police to pick him for further interrogation.”

The police PRO Zone six, Nelson Okpabi confirmed the incident to newsmen.
