Gunmen Invade Enekorogha Community in Edo, Residents Flee for Safety
A group of over 50 gunmen, believed to be loyal to an exiled former militant leader, launched a violent attack on the peaceful Enekorogha community in Edo State. The invaders opened fire sporadically, injuring several residents and sending many fleeing for their lives.
The sudden and brutal assault on the community has left residents in a state of panic and fear, with many forced to abandon their homes in search of safety. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but it is suspected to be linked to the exiled militant leader.
The community in a press conference on August 3, appealed to His Excellency, Godwin Obasiki to send troop of military men to rescue the community from the ongoing assault by the suspected criminal elements.
According to the community, the attack had been ongoing for two days with constant shooting by the invaders, with stiff resistance from the community youths.
