Hardship: Ijaw Elite Force Appeals To N’Delta Youth to Shun Protest
By Stephen Asaba-ase
The Ijaw Elite Force (IEF) has joined forces with the High Chief (Dr) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo to appeal to Niger Delta youth to abstain from participating in the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st. This appeal was made by the President of IEF, Comrade Saturday David.
In a statement, Comrade David emphasised the need for Niger Delta youth to exercise restraint and not allow themselves to be used as tools for political manipulation. He echoed the Tompolo’s concerns that the protest may be hijacked by external forces with ulterior motives.
The IEF president urged Niger Delta youth to prioritise peace and dialogue, stressing that the region has suffered enough from violence and instability. He encouraged them to seek alternative channels for addressing their grievances and promoting development in the region.
This joint appeal by IEF and Tompolo adds to the growing chorus of voices cautioning against the planned protest. Their message emphasised the importance of protecting the interests of the Niger Delta people and promoting peace in the region.
