Hardship: Warri Ijaw Communities Advise Protesters to Seek Dialogue For Redress
By Stephen Asaba-ase
The Warri Urban Ijaw Communities Chairmen Forum in Delta State has issued a stern warning to protesters planning to participate in the August 1st nationwide protest to keep away from their territory. The forum, comprising nine Ijaw autonomous communities, expressed concerns about the ulterior motives behind the protest and emphasised their commitment to peace.
In a statement signed by Mr. Collins Kemefa, Chairman of the Chairmen forum, and Mr. Adams Fullpower, Spokesman of the forum, they voiced their opposition to the protest, citing concerns about potential destabilization. They noted that similar protests did not occur during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting sinister intentions.
The forum appealed to Nigerian youths and the general public to exercise patience with President Tinubu, emphasising that meaningful change often involves difficulties. They expressed faith in the leadership and steps being taken by the President to address the nation’s challenges.
The Warri Urban Ijaw Communities urged Nigerian youths to remain calm, avoid actions leading to unrest, and support the government’s efforts to bring about positive change. They stressed the importance of unity and patience during this period of transition.
