Hoodlums Attack Policemen, Rivers Task Force On Illegal Street Trading

PORT-HARCOURT -At the early hours of Thursday at Trans Amadi Slaughter Area of Port Harcourt, hoodlums attacked Policemen and Team of Task Force members on illegal street trading at Trans Amadi Axis of Port Harcourt and injured some of the men.

Congress correspondent reports that the fight started when the Taskforce on illegal street trading arrived the Demolished market and chased street traders away, the hoodlums started chasing the Tasksforce team as well which seriously injured Policemen and other members of the team.

Rivers State Police Command added that it has arrested ten persons behind the attack on a policemen and some officials of the taskforce on illegal street trading on Thursday, at the demolished Trans-Amadi Slaughter Market.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the arrest and the incident told our correspondent that the suspects would be prosecuted if the investigation showed that they are responsible.

SP Omoni who clarified that there was no mass arrest said those arrested were at the scene of the attack.
