How fire razed Warri college

Suspected fire has engulfed the College of Education Warri, COEWA, Delta State on Thursday.

The fire caused pandemonium in the school as three shop apartments were razed down within the blink of an eye.

The incident occurred at about 1pm when unknown fire gutted shops in the school, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The affected shops were business centres, where photocopying, type setting and printing activities were carried out.

Some of the items that were destroyed include: deep freezers, gas cylinders, computers, photocopiers, UPS, printers, pieces of furniture and other valuable accessories.

Source said the terrible fire was put off by the quick intervention of fire service providers.

The Warri South Local Government,
Vice Chairman and Secretary,
Mrs. Divine Iniovosa and Mr. Joseph Oribioye, sympathised with the victims and the school as they visited the scene in the school.

Iniovosa said their visit was at the behest of the Chairman, Dr. Michael Tidi. She assured the school of the council’s continuous support.

The Registrar of COEWA,
Mrs. Christine Aluyi received the delegation on behalf of the provost, Dr. Dickson Oyovwi.

Though,the source of the fire is yet to be detected at the time of filing this report.
