On the occasion of his 56th birthday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara thanked his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

In a post on his verified X handle, Fubara wrote that the state’s residents, his wife, and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory—or FCT—are congratulating him.

The governor, who is at odds with Wike over the political unrest roiling the state, appealed to God to bring pleasure and joy to the outgoing governor in his old age.

“I congratulate my oga, His Excellency, Chief (Dr) Barrister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and the most recent governor of Rivers State, on his 56th birthday today, December 13,” the message says.

“Your excellency, my dear wife, I and the good people of Rivers State join your family and friends to felicitate you on this day.

“We sincerely pray that your new age brings you joy and happiness.”
