The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC and other youth Leaders in conjunction have given a four-week ultimatum to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to relocate headquarters of IOCs and NNPCL to the Niger Delta region.

While addressing journalists in a press briefing, the spokesman of the IYC, said that if Mr President, Bola Amhed Tinubu and the Afenifere formation of socio-cultural group felt that the Yoruba Nation had been shortchanged in the fair share of National agencies, let Tinubu and Afenifere make haste to address the issues of marginalization and degradation of the Niger Delta.

IYC during a visit to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, Ateke Tom, Boy Loaf and Asari Dokubo, stated that if the transfer of CBN and FAAN headquarters to Lagos were long overdue, equally the relocation of headquarters of IOCs and NNPCL are as well overdue.

The Ijaw youths narrated that the relocation would facilitate smooth business operations and ensure sustainable human capital development to the people of Niger Delta.

In related development, PANDEF, NDA, MEND, IPDI and NDPVF had equally urged the President to order NNPCL, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Exxon Mobil and others to relocate its corporate offices to the host oil communities in the Niger Delta states.

They also Noted that, the ecological effect caused by oil spillage and exploration activities in the Niger Delta region is too threatening to the inhabitants and coupled with the underdevelopment of the region, no portable water to drink, no technical schools, no good road network and power supply.

“We therefore, demand that the NNPCL, IOC and other multinationals to relocate their headquarters and subsidiaries to the Niger Delta or the federal government will have the Niger Delta to contend with”, they added.
