The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Iduwini Clan has suspended its chairman COMR EBI RAMES OKODOKEMI over what it described as grouse misconduct.

It was gathered that the chairman had written unauthorised letter of threat to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to shut down SPDC’s operations around the E.A. oilfield.

Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council Iduwini clan had distanced itself from the letter written to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), threatening to shut down SPDC’s operations around the E.A. Oilfield.

The IYC said the letter dated April 1, was not authorised by stakeholders, adding that the public and the affected corporations should ignore the threat letter.

The suspension was made known to newsmen on the 4th of APRIL 2024 on its Executive meeting held at Tamara Hall Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State.

IYC Iduwini clan said the purported threat should not be taken serious, noting that there was no such intention to shut down SPDC’s operations around the E.A. Oilfield.

However, the stakeholders assured members of the clan of resolving issues between host communities and SPDC without resorting to threat, adding that looking at the current situation of things in the Niger Delta, this was not the best time to write such threat letters.
