IYC Polls: IPF Appeals to Youth to Eschew Violence, Embrace Peaceful Elections
By Stephen Asaba-ase
The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum, IPF, has issued a passionate appeal to Ijaw youth to shun violence and embrace peaceful conduct as they prepare to elect new leadership in the western zone on June 5, 2024 at Odimodi , Delta State.
In a statement released today, the forum emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and decorum during the electoral process. They urged the youth to prioritize the development and progress of the Ijaw nation, rather than resorting to violent means.
The forum reminded the youth that the election is a critical opportunity to shape the future of the Ijaw nation and that their actions should reflect the values of peace, unity, and progress.
The statement read in part: “We appeal to our youth to eschew violence and embrace peaceful conduct during the election. Let us work together to build a brighter future for our nation.”
However, the forum’s appeal is seen as a vital intervention to prevent violence and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The election, scheduled for June 5, 2024, is expected to be a pivotal moment in the history of the Ijaw nation, and the Ijaw Publishers’ Forum’s appeal has been widely welcomed by stakeholders and community leaders.
