By Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The Chairman, of Ikara Local Government Council of Kaduna State Hon Ibrahim Salihu Sadiq, has commended a Journalist Organization known as Journalists Initiative on Immunization Against Polio, (JAP) for supporting and promoting the Polio Immunization exercise.
The chairman made the commendation in Karafka village of Ikara where the group conducted local theatre & roadshow during the polio immunization exercise.
He described polio immunization as one of the globally accepted gestures directed at protecting children’s health and giving hope for their future.
Honourable Sadiq noted with appreciation the JAP initiative which made children come out en masse and danced on the drums as traditional songs went on while the immunization was being carried out on them.
He also appreciated the state governor Mallam Uba Sani for giving priority to the health sector and children in particular by supporting the provision of free health services to them.
In an address during the event, the JAP coordinator in Kaduna State, Mallam Lawal Dogara said since 2007 the organization has been partners in contributing their quota to polio immunization and will continue until Nigeria is certified a polio-free country.
Mallam Lawal Dogara appreciates parents for dismissing myths against the polio vaccines and bringing out their children to be immunized.
According to him, the Road Show and drama are usually displayed by JAP to attract missed children to come out of the streets to be vaccinated.
