Jubilation as Pondi commissions N100m ultramodern town hall project in Burutu

Jubilation in Burutu community as the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency at the green Chambers, Rt. Hon Julius Pondi has commissioned N100m ultramodern town hall constituency project in Burutu community.

The project is part of his numerous constituency projects being influenced to better the lots of the people.

Among dignitaries at the event were the Pere of Iduwini kingdom in Delta state, represented by Chief Evans Etimigba, Hon. Julius Takeme Delta, South senatorial PDP chairman, Hon. Godknows Angele chairman Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Asupa Peter Forteta, member representing Burutu North, Delta state house of assembly, Mr Emma Akpule, PDP Delta South youth leader.

Others were Hon. Ziakegha Ignatus, Special Adviser to the governor of Delta state, Amb Oweilami Pereotubo, former IYC president worldwide, Rt Hon. Spencer Takeme Speaker, Burutu legislative arm , Hon. Ebike Oromoni, PDP Burutu party chairman, and other exco members, Ekisa Ebizimor chairman Burutu community and all councilors in Burutu LGA were fully present.

The lawmaker stated that being the headquarters of Burutu Local Government Area, the town hall project was needed, hence he used his office to influence the project without the people’s notice, adding that the joy he had was the people’s applaud for giving the community a suitable arena for deliberation.

Pondi, in his speech thanked the Burutu people for their support and prayers for him during the commissioning of the project, noting that he didn’t have regret in representing them. Hon Julius Pondi assured that there are still a lot of ongoing projects that would be commissioned before the end of 2022.

He went further: “In 2011 when I came here during my election campaign, I was hosted in the town hall and when I came here again in 2015, I was still hosted in the same town hall and I felt that the town hall is not befitting enough, that is why I have deemed it fit to influence this ultramodern town hall building that worth 100 million naira. The town is well furnitured. We have 130chairs for the audience, 8 executive chairs. It contains two offices, one conference table, two executive tables, six air conditioners and eighteen ceiling fans”.

However, Mr Ekisa Ebizimor chairman of Burutu community who gave welcome speech, also expressed gratitude for the works Pondi had done: “I thank Rt Hon. Julius Pondi for this project because some times our leaders assume that they are not accountable to anybody, they do what they wish but here we are seeing somebody who have the people at heart. It is a thing of joy, we are so much happy.”

Also speaking, the chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Hon Godknows Angele applauded him for influencing such people oriented project, assuring he is strongly behind him (Pondi).

He further urged Pondi not to relent the good works he has been doing, adding that he was grateful to president Muhammadu Buhari for giving Pondi the platform to influence a town hall and other projects in Burutu federal constituency.

Hon. Angele equally urged Burutu people to prayer for him(Pondi) to finish strong, according to him:”we have a lot of legislators that were given constituency projects but you will not see anything in their constituencies but today we are happy because we have a vibrant leader representing us, I am saying this without fear or favour because I know what is happening in Nigeria”.

According to him, he had also employed 7seven staff to maintain the town hall, which were two security guards and five cleaners.

Chief Bebe Joseph, who represented the traditional council in the event applauded the good works of Julius Pondi and also lamented over the state of things in Burutu school of marine technology.

He asserted that Burutu school of marine technology is the only state school Ijaw people have and in spite of that the school is yet to be accredited.

He reiterated that the school had no proper development in terms of facilities, stating that the state governor should stop the game of brain drain and employ qualify Ijaw persons as lecturers to provide efficient of academic works in the school.

Bebe, urged Ijaw political leaders to throw their weight behind the school of marine technology in Burutu as the only school they have now.

Hon. Julius Takeme, Delta South senatorial PDP chairman also thanked Pondi on behalf of the party, stressing that the party which he (Pondi) used to contest for the position he is occupying is fully aware of the good works he (Pondi) is doing.

Takeme , however, appealed to Burutu people to keep faith with the party, maintaining that the state governor is a Burutu friend and Burutu man and that more developmental projects would soon be executed in the community.

The PDP Delta South senatorial chairman, further said the APC is a confused party and had no good thing to offer. He encouraged the Burutu constituents to vote for PDP come 2023 to get more of these good developmental projects.

In the same vein ,Hon Asupa, member representing Burutu North constituency in Delta state house of assembly, expressed gratitude over the new developmental project.

Asupa also emphasized on the school of marine technology in Burutu, assuring the people that the house would do their best to reposition the school.

He asserted that the school is now in the ministry of education, unlike when it was in the ministry of transportation.
