JUST IN: Egbema Leaders Converge, Urge INEC to Implement Warri Delineation Final Report to Avoid Shut Down Of Critical Assets
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
Critical leaders and stakeholders of Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately implement the final Warri federal constituency Delineation report of wards, polling units and new constituencies, warning that further delay could trigger avoidable tensions and shut down of critical government assets in the Niger Delta region.
The demand was made on Wednesday during a press conference held at the Polobubou Community in the Egbema Kingdom. The gathering brought together traditional Chiefs, community leaders, youth representatives, and other key stakeholders from the kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of the kingdom, the leader of Egbema Kingdom, Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori, stressed that the Supreme Court had already delivered its final verdict on the matter and that any delay in implementation would undermine justice, fairness, and the fragile peace in the constituency.
Amb. Ukori told journalists that the people of Egbema have exercised patience and faith in the judicial process, but that patience was wearing thin. He emphasized that the immediate implementation of the judgment was critical to sustaining peace, justice, and equity among the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo ethnic groups that make up Warri Federal Constituency.
“The Supreme Court has spoken. That judgment is final and binding on all parties and institutions, including INEC. We are here today to make it clear that ‘justice delayed’, is justice denied,” Amb. Ukori said. “The people of Egbema Kingdom and indeed Warri North are peace-loving, but our commitment to peace must not be mistaken for weakness.”
