Just in: Warri dreaded-Imomotimi robbery gang member shot dead

The police in Delta State have shot dead a dreaded Imomotimi robbery gang member, Andrew Billions on Thursday.

Congress learnt that the notorious armed robber was killed at 1pm on Thursday along Mission Road in Warri South council area.

The incident occurred when the notorious gang of three belonging to one Imomotimi reportely robbed someone of an undisclosed amount of money after the person was trailed from a bank.

Source said the robbers met their waterloo when policemen on patrol duty along Warri/Sapele Road, who were hinted about the incident, gave them a hot chase.

According the source, the dead robber was the driver of a black Toyota Corolla car with registration number RBC 218 BL which the gunmen used for the operation.

It was gathered there was fierce gun battle between the police and the gang but the driver was shot and died at the spot, while other gang members escaped unhurt.

Report said one locally-made pistol loaded with live cartridge, a Nokia phone, N130,000 and the vehicle were recovered by the police.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement, Friday stating the gang was one “dreaded Imomotimi group” which has been on the wanted list of the Command.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, further added that two suspected cultists, identified as Oghenenyerhovwo Solomon and Rukevwe Afakpor, 29, were arrested in separate locations, in the state.

Two locally made double barrel guns, three live cartridges and a “lady’s motorcycle” were recovered from the suspects, respectively”.
