Chief Mamamu Bene Youkore, Chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State has threatened to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the upcoming 2024 LGA Chairmanship election in the LG.

He disclosed this in Warri, on Saturday, January 6,, 2024 during his official declaration of interest to run for the chairmanship position
at the Party’s leadership meeting.

Chief Mamamu who officially declared his interest in contesting the LG seat before the party, added that he is fully ready to win the election and that it won’t be business as usual, that he is coming to change the narrative.

The statement reads; “I am coming to change the narrative of being one of the highest oil-producing areas with nothing to show. the quality of my leadership will address the problem of unemployment. I am not known for many promises, but I know the needs of the people and poverty reduction will be my main focus. I don’t compromise and I will take it completely, it’s a quit notice for PDP.”

Congress learnt that Mamamu received a warm reception from the APC Warri South-West Local Government leadership upon his arrival at the venue for the meeting.

The Mamamu’s ambition was well commended by the LGA Chairman of the party, Mr. Collins Ebieto,  Secretary, Erike Raphael, publicity secretary, Igbomene Emeleakpo, and the entire ward chairmen who made up the LGA.

Speaking at the declaration, the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Federal Ward 1 Chairman Prince Ese Benebode, stated, “from far and wide, it is Ijaw’s turn to produce the Local Government Chairman and the APC has put their house to encourage internal democracy, hopefully, the party will give the ticket to an Ijaw person.”

The party’s chairman, Ebieto, while calling on the various ward leaders to set aside personal interests, urged them to be steadfastly committed and be more organised. According to him, the surest way to make the party appealing to the electorate, and gladiators from other political parties was to ensure unity,  promote discipline, and encourage seriousness.
