Military raid: IPF assesses damages at Pa Clark’s home

The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum, IPF, has visited the Chief (Dr) Pa Edwin Clark’s home on Wednesday following the unfortunate military raid in his country home at Kiagbodo community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The news agency, IPF said the visit at the Ijaw national leader’s home on Wednesday was to assess the level of damage incurred as a result of the military invasion.

The Ijaw news council held interview with members of Chief (Dr) Clark’s family during the visit, where they narrated their ugly ordeals. Those interviewed confirmed the military raid at the Ijaw national leader’s home.

While assessing the level of damage done to the country home of the elder statesman, IPF affirmed that the soldiers unlawfully broke all the security doors of the national leader’s home, forced themselves to all the apartments and ransacked it without any search warrant.

IPF narrated that the ceilings of some apartments in the house were broken, wardrobe and documents were damaged. Some of the chairs were upturned, windows broken and laptop belonging to one of the occupants was unlawfully seized and was taken away.

The members of the Pa Clark family living in the compound said they were humiliated and given inhumane treatment.
The occupants of Pa Clark’s home were paraded and were asked to seat on the floor.
The soldiers who came in 5trunks would have shot a member of Pa Clark’s family if he was not lucky enough, as narrated by the victim.

The entire community was put in apprehension as residents scampered for safety. The soldiers flew their drones around the estate and the entire community before finally leaving the community. However, nobody was taken away from the community.

Meantime, the reason for the raid according to the commanding officer, Port Harcourt Division of the Nigerian Army, during a conversation with the elder statesman, said the military tracker tracked one Mr Vote, the chairman of Okuama Community to a building in Ughelli, but unfortunately found themselves in Kiagbodo community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
