Monitor your children closely on drug abuse -NDLEA tells parents

The Enugu States National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Command, has urged parents to monitor closely the activities of their children to limit the tide stem of illicit drug abuse in the society.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Assistant State Commander on Drug Demand Reduction Department, Mr. Adjai Eyiuche stated this on Sunday at St. Mulumba Catholic Church at Enugu.

Mr. Adjai Eyuiche, noted that the appeal followed the high incidence of drug abuse in the state and the production among youths today.

He further added that most abused illicit drugs in the state was crystal meth, in Igbo language it is called ‘mkpuru mmiri.’

According to him, the South-East zone is the ranked second in illicit drug production and that it had major clandestine laboratories were crystal meth was produced.

He also said that such laboratories about three in Udi, Nkanu West, and Trans-Ekulu were recently destroyed by the operatives of command in the state.

“We are here to address you because of the effects of crystal meth which is destroying our youths and families.”
