Oil Spill: We’re committed to asset integrity, environmental protection — Agip

Following the oil spill that occurred on 3rd July, 2023, Nigerian oil company, Agip, has stated that the oil spill was immediately reported to concern authorities for appropriate actions.

The oil company explained that three related agencies of government were aware of the incident, including the state Ministry of environment and host Community.

This is according to s statement signed by the Deputy manager, Government abs and Institutional Relations , Folu Olapade.

Folu affirmed that the oil company was commited to facility asset integrity and always intervenes to remediate spills.

It was reported that the host Community, according to petroleum Industry Act, 2021, had a role in cases of oil spil for the remediation by establishing a trust fund.

He maintained that the trust fund would draw revenue from the 3% of the annual operating expenditure.
