The Udu kingdom’s apex body, the Union of Union Communities (UUC) has appealed to the Delta State government to relax the military curfew imposed on the community, to enable the people to go out to buy food stuff and medicine.

According to a communique issued and signed by the President  General of UUC, Austine Emaduku at the end of an emergency meeting with the Communities’ Presidents, the military lockdown had brought untold hardship and hunger to the people.

The statement reads, “The military lockdown has brought untold hardship and hunger to the people. While the military should be commended for bringing the hostilities to a temporary end, the military should be prevailed upon by the government to relax and vary the lockdown order to enable people to go out to buy food and medicine. We will seek the assistance of our political leaders in this regard.”

The UUC, however, reiterated its promise to work with the government to put a permanent stop to the perennial war between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities.
