The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has come under fire over continuous neglect of St. Timothy A/C Primary School in Taribor town, a riverine Ijaw community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

This was revealed by a recent visit of the GbaramatuVoice team to St. Timothy A/C Primary School in Taribor Community.

The school which is in a state of despair and total neglect was  established in 1954 by missionaries, according to report.

Sources close to Gbaramatu voice report that the school is no longer suitable for learning and other academic activities.

The report stated, “the institution has fallen into a state of despair, rendering it unsuitable for learning, with fallen windows, a crumbling roof, which is in a total state of dilapidation. There is need for urgent intervention, and this report is a call on the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, to take immediate action.

The sources lamented, “The once-promising school building, which was a symbol of hope and enlightenment, now stands as a symbol of decay, with a fallen windows and a damaged roof, the learning environment has become perilous and unsuitable for both pupils and teachers. The damaged roof and windows not only hinder the learning process but also pose significant safety risks to everyone in the school. Pupils are forced to sit on the floor to learn due to the lack of desk. The lives of pupils and teachers are in jeopardy due to the precarious condition of the building.

“This is an urgent call on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and the Odigbo local government to take a remediation action. Swift intervention is required to rectify this dire situation. Education is the cornerstone of progress and development, and the state of this school is a glaring contradiction to the commitment to providing quality education for the citizens of Ondo State.

“The abysmal condition of St. Timothy A/C Primary School, demands immediate attention from both the state and local governments. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu must prioritise the restoration and transformation of this school to ensure that the students have a safe and conducive learning environment. It is through such actions that the promise of quality education can be fulfilled for all. Therefore, every hand must be on desk to provide a good learning environment to allow the pupils of St. Timothy A/C Primary School to access the quality of education they deserve”, the statement reads.
