Following the suspicious moves by stakeholders in the screening process of kingship aspirants jostling for the kingdom’s stool, the Elite People’s Forum, EPF, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has called on the Governor of Delta state, Sen Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Executive Chairman Burutu LGA, Rt Hon Angele Godknows, leaders and stakeholders of the Kingdom to prevail on the screening process of aspirants to avoid the imposition of King in the Kingdom.
The group, in a statement issued by its Chairman, Chief John Amatari said: “we are here to install leader and not to deceive the gullible supporters, by saying I’m contesting, ‘give me the stool to rule’ when the individual is not even prepared to rule. The wise ones have said, give those who are ready to serve the common man of the kingdom(Operemor).
According to the group’s chairman, “We should work for an aspirant who has integrity and is popular with the masses, such person should be considered as the next Pere of Operemor Kingdom.
“As grassroots leaders, we don’t want the selection process to be jeopardized, want to take the best amongst them. The Elite People’s Forum (EPF), is an intellectual group in the local government and the State, we have agreed that we will work for the aspirant who has the influence, popularity and integrity to represent the kingdom in the general public, that is what we will do, else the kingdom might turn upside down.
“We also call on the Council of chiefs, stakeholders and compatriot citizens of Operemor Kingdom respectively to please support the unanimous decision to select someone who can fly the flag for a greater height, to bring tangible development in the kingdom.
“We will strongly condemn the imposition of any aspirant as Operemor King. We want fairness, equity and justice in the forthcoming selection process and want the most influential aspirant to fly the throne.
Therefore, we the Elite People’s Forum of Operemor Kingdom agreed and abide that, we don’t need handpicked aspirants, we want a sellable aspirant that can fly the flag in the general public at all levels, anything contrary might lead to stiff rebuff.”
