Outrage as outlaws kill 80, abduct 70, raze houses in Plateau

There is pandemonium in
Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state where heavily armed outlaws killed 80, kidnapped over 70 residents and razed several houses on Sunday.

The Bandits also set over hundred (100) buildings ablaze in the community during the attack. The following communities in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state were greatly affected by the attack on Sunday: Kukawa, Gyambawu, Dungur, Kyaram, Yelwa, Dadda, Wanka, Shuwaka, Gwammadaji, Dadin Kowa.

According to one source who is a local
government officials, in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state, asserted that the bandits invaded the communities on Sunday afternoon and started attacking the indigenes of the communities at the acme of cruelty.

The source said that the council discovered about 38 persons who were killed by the bandits in the Kukawa community while about 24 people were killed in the Gyambau community and also 8 persons were recorded dead in the Kyaram community while 10 persons were also killed in the Wanna community of the local government area.

The source further added that the total number of persons murdered would be recorded soon as there are still corpses in the bush.

It was also disclosed that several persons who were injured were taken to Dengi General Hospital and Jos University Teaching Hospital for treatment. The source said, more than 100 buildings were set ablaze as well by the bandits.

An eyewitness Sariki Bitrus narrated on Sunday that about 70 people mainly women in the local government area were also kidnapped by the bandits. According to him, the survivors (villagers) had escaped to nearby villages for refuse.

The eyewitness Sariki stated that the bandits invaded the communities at about 3:45 pm When the Victims were working on their farmland in preparation for the rainy season.
