A group under the auspices of N/Delta Transparency Network, NDTN, has called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint the next coordinator of the presidential amnesty programme from Delta State.

They emphasized that Delta State which is the core brain behind the establishment of the presidential amnesty programme was shortchanged since the outset of the programme.

According to the group, Bayelsa and Rivers states had gotten their fair share over the years, explaining that Delta Ijaws should be considered in the appointment of the next coordinator of the amnesty programme.

He cited some of the previous coordinators as MAJOR GENERAL GODWIN ABBE (rtd) CFR DSS mni
CHAIRMAN OF THE PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY COMMITTEE (2009 Akwa-Ibom),
AIR VICE MARSHAL LUCKY OCHUKO ARARILE, Pioneer Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, (2009 Urhobo), TIMI ALAIBE, SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE PRESIDENT OF NIGER DELTA (2011), HON. KINGSLEY KUKU,
SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE PRESIDENT ON NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS AND CHAIRMAN OF THE PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY OFFICE( 2011 Ondo), GEN. PT BOROH (rtd) SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE PRESIDENT ON NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS AND COORDINATOR, PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME ( Bayelsa 2015), PROF. CHARLES DOKUBO
SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE PRESIDENT ON NIGER DELTA AND COORDINATOR, PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME ( Rivers state 2018), COLONEL MILLAND DIKIO,( retired) BAYELSA and MAJ GEN BARRY NDIOMU (Bayelsa).

The group reiterated that a clear look at the names of the previous coordinators of the presidential amnesty programme showed that Delta Ijaws had been shortchanged.

They, however, appealed to President Bola Tinubul to consider the humble call for the interest of equity, peace and unity in the country, adding what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
