By Stephen Asaba-ase
The Delta State Police Command has launched a massive manhunt for kidnappers after recovering a cache of weapons and ammunition in Uwurghelli village. The weapons, hidden in a sack in the bush, included three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of live ammunition.
The discovery was made following a tip-off from a vigilant member of the public, which led the police to the kidnappers’ hideout. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division, CSP Josephine Ekebuike, swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene, cordoning off the area and conducting a thorough search.
The Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the DPO and her team for their prompt response and urged the public to continue partnering with the police to tackle crime.
He emphasised the importance of police-community collaboration in achieving optimal results and assured that the command is committed to acting swiftly on credible information to prevent and combat criminal activity.
