Police recover body of boy slain by suspected herdsmen in Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the corpse of a boy, Victor Anozie Alex, allegedly murdered by suspected herdsmen in Okumoni community of Okordia clan, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The body was reportedly recovered from a bush after a team of residents combed the bush on Monday after the herdsmen’s attack.

It was gathered the decomposed body of Alex, 23, a native of Kogi State, brings the number of casualties to three.

It was earlier reported that two chiefs from Zarama and Okumoni community, both of Okordia clan, were allegedly killed while several others were injured in the attack by rampaging herdsmen last week.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, ordered the Divisional Police Officer, Biseni Division, with other tactical operatives to evacuate the corpse of the deceased who was allegedly killed by herdsmen during the attack.

Police operatives are currently combing the forest and surrounding environs, he further noted.
