Suspected Fulani militants kill soldier, injure 3 in Kaduna

Suspected Fulani militants on Tuesday evening shot dead a soldier and injured three others during exchange of gunfire in Akoti village near Kagarko town in Kaduna State.

A community source, Musa Arungo, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said a civilian was also injured during the battle with the bandits.

Arungo narrated that the gunmen rustled over 80 cows and were passing through Akpoti village when soldiers were alerted.

“Unfortunately, the bandits killed a soldier, wounded three in the process.

“One of the villagers was hit by a stray bullet from the bandits and he is currently receiving treatment at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada,” he explained.

The Madaki of Janjala, Samaila Babangida, also confirmed the incident, stating “from the information I received this morning, the soldiers came from Kaduna to evacuate the three injured soldiers and the corpse of the one killed.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him.
