Residents Panic Over Abuja Explosion

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) revealed that the explosion that occurred near a refuse dump outside the Bureau of Public Enterprise premises in the Maitama area of Abuja was a denotation of an overheating wast container.

The Police PRO in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja while she was addressing the press.

However, she send a timely response team of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and deployed members to investigate the situation after the alleged explosion on 24th Wednesday 2024.

While speaking to news men, the police public relation Officer said, preliminary investigation was carried out and it was an overheated metal refuse container activated under intense heat and got denotated and two of the workers were injured.

She said the affected refuse workers are currently receiving medical attention at Maitama General Hospital.

Mrs Josephine Adeh urged the public to take precaution and refrained from using metal refused containers.

She advised to use plastic or rubber containers for waste disposal, as it can reduced risk of being overheated.
