In the midst of the political crises rocking the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s reappoints nine former commissioners who earlier step down. The Rivers State House of Assembly has rescreened and cleared all nine former commissioners.
In November of last year, during the conflict between Fubara and his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, the commissioners submitted their resignation letters.
To get approval from the State House of Assembly, Fubara resubmitted the names of the nine nominees a few days ago.
Wednesday’s plenary session requested that the outgoing commissioners “bow and exit” the room.
