Shooting of female student: Ijaw leader, Ozobo demands for prosecution of erring police officers

The Special Assistant to the governor of Delta state, Comrade Ozobo Austin has condemned the police shooting of a protesting Ijaw female student in NPDC headquarters in Benin, stressing that the erring police officers must be fetched out to face the music of the law.
The Ijaw political leader said it was unprofessional for police to open fire at unarmed peaceful protesters, adding that the erring police officers must not go unpunished.
It was recalled that Niger Delta students protested in the headquarters of Nigeria Petroleum Development company, NPDC, where the company’s office was closed down on Wednesday.
Source, said the female Niger Delta student was shot when the protesting students revisited the company’s office upon invitation by the company’s management to address their plight.
The source, said the police shoot intermittently upon the arrival of the students at the company’s office on Thursday morning, Leading to the wounding of a female student.
The political adviser who condemned the act of the police, demanded justice to avoid provocation and break down of law and order by angry youths in the state.
The Ijaw leader has called on the Commissioner of police in Edo state to arrest and prosecute the erring police officers for the interest of peace.
