SOLA AJISAFE, WALE OMOLEGBON AND THE SANYÉRI MENTALITY, BY OLABODE AKINWALE

By Comrade Olabode Akinwale
Sanyéri a character popularly played by Olaniyi Mukaila Afonja is an household name among the Yorubas and those who understands the language.
Olaniyi Mukaila Afonja is a Nigerian comedian, actor and film maker that has been in the entertainment industry for decades.
The Sanyéri character is that of a man who suffers from both poverty of the mind and ideas but yet tries to hoodwink others with his shallow mentality laced with local intelligence dexterity.
Sometimes he succeed but most times his bamboozlement falls flat.
Recently, both Sola Ajisafe and Wale Omolegbon have taken on the dramatis personae of Sanyéri by their social media vituperative comments and remarks about Ondo State Governor and the Honourable Commissioner for Finance.
The twin Sanyéris have been trying unsuccessfully to pitch the state governor against the commissioner for finance on one hand and the good people of Ondo State against their newly elected governor on the other hand.
Law is a profession I love and respect so much, but when some members of the Bar or Bench becomes unethical and uncourteous in their manner of conduct, it behoves on other well meaning members of the society to sound the alarm bells!
Lawyers are members of a noble profession and therefore they should never descend into the arena of politics to the extent of soiling their sacred robes.
Like Sanyéri, both Ajisafe and Omolegbon who claims to be Barristers at Law have been spreading unsubstantiated information about the governor and his wife and also the commissioner for finance and the finances of Ondo State.
The duo have resorted to cyberbulying and stalking of the state’s first family and causing unnecessary distraction in governance.
It can only take a daft character like Sanyéri in a comedy film to believe and spread the rumour that Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Governor is in the pocket of Mrs Omowunmi Isaac, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance just because she is doing her best to save the state from financial vampires that almost suck life out of the state’s economy in the recent past!
It is only a Sanyéri comic character (s) that will conclude that there is a conjugal relationship build up possibility between the Governor and the Commissioner simply because of the patriotic synergy to give the best and deliver democracy dividends to the people.
For the information of the twin Sanyéris, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac gave about N250 million to late Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu in support of his first term gubernatorial ambition.
I am sure if the two Sanyéris in robes were aware of this fact then, they would have thoughtlessly conclude that Akeredolu was having an amorous affairs with the UK trained chartered accountant.
Just like Kóledowo in the epic Yoruba movie – Koto Órun (Heaven’s Dungeon) produced in 1989 by late Alhaji Yekini Ajiléyé, both Sola Ajisafé and Wale Omolegbon have taken their foolishness and recalcitrancy too far. And I believe those privileged to watch the film will still recollect how Kóledowo’s unbridled tongue cost him all.
Every Nigerian have the right to play or participate in politics, but that has to be POLITICS WITHOUT BITTERNESS!
Like medicine, law is another profession that does not thrive on fiction, superstition or hearsay. Information or data must be measurable, repeatable and documentable to be taken seriously.
When lawyers become jesters because of political leaning then there is danger.
Ondo State Governor is not an absentia leader. He is fit and he is not only in charge of government, he is in power!
Civil and public servants in Ondo State are already aware of the machinations of political jobbers in the state to “pour sand in their gaari” by causing a heat up of the polity, get the payment of their monthly salaries delayed, stop pension and gratuity payment and eventually ground the government.
No civil or public servant in the state will want anyone to toy or tamper with the system that guarantee a regular and timely payment of their entitlements.
As a result, no irony, innuendo or metaphor of any form fashioned against the State Governor or the Honourable Commissioner for Finance or any other genuine stakeholder for that matter, in order to destabilize, undermine or sabotage their efforts at repositioning the state for greatness shall prosper.
