As the increase in transportation persists following the removal of petroleum subsidy, the Federal Government of Nigeria has urged Nigerians to embrace bicycles as means of commuting.

This is according to a statement by Musa Ibrahim, the Director of Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration, during stakeholders sensitization meeting in Abuja, the country’s Capital.

Musa stated that using bicycle would obviously reduce road crash incidents.

He maintained that bicycle is simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport, fostering environmental stewardship and health.

Ibrahim reiterated that Nigerians should start using bicycles as means of eradicating poverty, strengthening physical education, and promoting health.
