Stop prosperity gospel, preach hard-work -Osinbajor tells Clergymen
By Stephen Asaba-ase
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo emphasized the crucial role of the church in promoting values that can drive Nigeria’s development. Speaking at the 68th Anniversary and 58th Annual Convention of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Osinbajo stressed that the church must shift its focus from prosperity preaching to emphasizing hard work, compassion, and community service.
Osinbajo lamented that the Nigerian church has prioritized personal prosperity and material wealth over its true calling to promote peace, unity, and societal development. He argued that this shift in focus is essential for Nigeria’s rise and fulfillment of its potential.
The former Vice President urged the church to return to its roots, inspiring individuals to become agents of positive change rather than mere consumers of the prosperity gospel. By promoting values like hard work, compassion, and service, the church can contribute significantly to Nigeria’s development and progress.
Osinbajo’s remarks highlight the importance of the church’s role in shaping societal values and promoting development. His call to action emphasizes the need for a shift in focus towards values that can drive positive change in Nigeria.
