Suspected Female Human Trafficker Arrested

A 37-year- old lady identified as Gift Rita, has been arrested for human trafficking by the operatives of the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

The suspect Rita Gift was apprehended by the NSCDC, for human trafficking of four underaged girls from Port-Harcourt to Ilorin for a purpose of being used as sex slaves.

Babawale Zaid Afolab who is the Command’s spokesman disclosed this to newsmen in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the Commandant, Mr Makinde Iskil Ayinla, the state Command was alerted by sympathizer of a suspected case of human trafficking which involved four underaged girls, between 15 to 16 years who were brought from Port-Harcourt to Ilorin for a purpose of using them as sex slaves.

Makinde further said “the operatives of the human trafficking unit of the command moved into action immediately and surrounded them up at the point of get in.”

Mr Makinde who is the Commandant said that a 37-year old lady called Gift Rita, who was suspected to be a human trafficker, has been arrested, which he added that the four victims and suspect have been handed over to the operatives of the NAPTIP, Kwara State Command for further action to be taken and prosecution of the so call suspect Gift Rita.
