Suspected militants threaten fresh hostility over oil pipeline contract

Some suspected masked militants wielding heavy weapons including assault AKA 47, 49 rifles, machine guns and rocket launchers surfaced in a viral video, threatening mayhem with the federal government and NNPC for awarding the oil pipeline surveillance contract to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo.

The militants which are suspected to be river State-based demanded that the oil surveillance contract in Rivers communities be awarded to HRM Ate Tom or be given to Asari Dokubo.

The dreaded militants said the only ground for peace was to award the contract to indigenes in the state, adding that they would stage war against Tompolo surveillance staff that would be deployed to work in their areas.

One of the commanders who spoke in the Kalabari language accused the minister of Petroleum Resources,( State)Timipre Sylva and NNPC of not being sincere to them in the award of the surveillance contract.
