Tears as service of songs hold for late Burutu PDP women leader, Layagbe

The service of songs for the late Burutu PDP women leader, Mrs Helen Layagbe was held amid tears in her residence in NPA, Marine quarters in Warri, Delta State on Thursday 25.

Congress news learnt that the event was graced by personalities in Burutu Local government area of Delta State.

While she was alive, she was described as a God fearing woman, hardworking and dedicated to providing charitable services to humanity.

Her Biography reads, “late Madam Helen Layagbe was born in 1960 into the family of Donoware Quarters of Edegbene community in Seimbiri Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

She attended Father Ede Primary School feet 1966-1972, and she obtained her Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC), she deliberately went into petty trading simply because girl’s child education was not encouraged at that time. The Girl-child was taken as a second class citizen and was made inferior to their male counterparts.

She reportedly proceeded to finish her secondary education after leaving the Edegbene community in her early days.

However, she reportedly joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2012 and she was elected as women leader first in Seimbiri ward 4 and later elected as women leader in PDP Burutu LGA for two terms.

According to a report, she died while still serving as PDP women leader in the Burutu Local government area.
