Tears flow as first Burutu North Assembly member Idumson buried

Tears and deep sorrow filled the atmosphere of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state as the 81years elder Hon. Cyril Memene Idumson, the first Burutu North Assembly member between 1979-1983 under the defunct Unity Party Of Nigeria (UPN) was buried in his home town Ayakoromo community during the weekend.

The funeral was agog with dignitaries but surprisingly non of his current colleagues were found in the ceremony, a situation concerned sympathizers described as unfortunate.

However, Memene who died on August 26th, 2021 was born on the 12th of May 1940 into the family of Late Pa Thompson Idumson of Assesaghabiri quarters at Ayakoromo community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Some personalities at the funeral were Hon. Karona (APC chieftain), Hon. Tom Willy (PDP chieftain), Hon. Ozobo Austin, SA political to Delta State Governor, Fred Afeogba (IYC), Dr Clarkson Agatha and others from NMU, Mr Bofa (In-law), Ayakoromo community leaders, Church leaders, members, Youths, Burutu community leaders and others.

The officiating ministers who graced the Service of Songs and Funeral Service of the deceased from Church of God Mission included Rev. Prof. Jonathan Idialu (zonal coordinator, Warri zone 3), Rev. Maureen Agbonkina ( resident pastor, Warri zone 3), Rev. Samuel O. Kaka ( Burutu provincial Headquarters and a host of other Ministers) and several other members from the Church attended the funeral ceremony.

Also, other Ministers of God from his home town (Ayakoromo) who were present at the funeral ceremony included Pastor Dickson, Pastor Japheth, Pastor Faith, Apostle Theophilus etc.

According to his Biography read: “Papa, Hon. Cyril Memene was born on the 12th of May 1940 to the family of Thompson Kiyebo Idumson at Ayakoromo federated community of Burutu Local Government Areas of the present Delta State.

“He attended Roman Catholic school, Burutu from 1947-1954. In 1960 he got his first appointment with the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Lagos and served for seven years.

“Papa Cyril Memene Idumson was an astute politician and a staunch member of the defunct Unity Party Of Nigeria (UPN) where he contested the Burutu North constituency election and emerged the first House of Assembly member in the local government at the then defunct Bendel State”.

” When Papa was alive he was a member of Church of God Mission International Warri zone 3 headquarters. He was a member of the Church of God Mission International Men’s fellowship”, he said.

The officiating pastor also conducted a prayer service for the children and family members during the funeral ceremony.

He posited, “the evil ones would not use the deceased face to trouble the family and the children, I pray that there will be no pre-matured death in this family and may all the desires of the family and children be fulfilled in the name of Jesus, Amen.”
