The Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL) has warned the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, DSP Ovie Omo-Agege to steer clear from Ogbe-Ijoh community, the headquarters of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state with his campaigns, stating that except there is peace, no campaign would be allowed in the community.

This was contained in a statement by the group’s National Co-ordinator Hon. Company Yerinbowei Felix and sent to Congress correspondent on Friday.

The statement urged: “Don’t bother to come and campaign in Ogbe-Ijoh the headquarters of Warri South West Local Government Area because we will not allow you, because you are biased and not interested in the peace of the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh warring communities.

“As the number fifth person in the country, being the deputy Senate President of Nigeria and who is also from Delta Central can not intervene in the land dispute between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh to see how there will be permanent peace between the two Communities, then you are not welcome in Ogbe-Ijoh community, the headquarters of WSW LGA in terms of the campaign, and we will not vote for you.

“We are bitterly angry at you because being the deputy senate president you see no need to end this barbaric killing between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja Communities, instead you decided to support your people against the Ogbe-Ijoh community.

“The Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL), a political Pressure Group which has over one thousand members with permanent voters cards (PVC) is telling the current Deputy Senator President who is the Gubernatorial Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), H. E. Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege not to come to Ogbe-job for the campaign because he will never be allowed as far as there is no permanent peace and no military checkpoints at the boundary in between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh to ensure permanent peace.

“We all are aware that, Sen. Omo-Agege is not representing Delta South where Warri South West is under but, we should also be aware that the Aladja community that is having this land dispute with Ogbe-Ijoh is under Udu Local Government which is under the Delta Central he is representing, so he has the right to interfere to make sure there is permanent peace between the two Communities but, he did not because he has no feelings for the common people that are passing through this destructive epidemic.”

Corroborating the position of the group’s Coordinator, the National secretary doubled as the immediate past IYC Chairman Ogbe-Ijoh Amb. Engr. Okosu Smart retorted: “What is the need for campaigning in Ogbe-Ijoh when our people are not living in peace when our people are suffering sleepless nights, setbacks, and loss of lives and properties while we have prominent people like DSP? Sen. Ovie in government for all these while that can join hands with the state government to resolve or settle the crisis between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh to wipe away the tears of the people, not even attempt, so there is no going back if there’s no permanent peace and checkpoints, no campaign for Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in Ogbe-Ijoh because IGL will never allow him until he pays attention to our demands.

However, the National President of IGL, Card. AMB. Mamamu Bene Youkore who is also the National President Niger Delta Youth Council asserted that the Independent Grassroot Liberators (IGL) are not biased in their dealings, noting what they were doing today is something they would have done to Sen. J. E. Manager had he succeeded the candidacy of the People Democratic Party (PDP) or any other party.

They went further, “people should not see it in different form but, as an agitation of justice and peace based on representation and concern, and all we are asking for is a permanent peace and army checkpoint or station at the boundary in-between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities to relieve or save the people from a sleepless night and untimely dead.

“Therefore, if there’s no quick response to our demands, there will be no campaign for DSP. Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in Ogbe-Ijoh and IGL will not give him their support and votes as well”- the group asserted.
