On Friday, President Bola Tinubu submitted a letter to the Senate, requesting their assistance for Nigeria’s military involvement in Niger Republic.

The letter was read at plenary by the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio.

The president also demanded a total blockade of the sea and air routes to the country following the military coup.

Few days ago, Congress News reported that the democratically elected government in Niger Republic was ousted by the military.

It also seized assets of all politically exposed and senior persons of the government of Niger in the country based on the ECOWAS resolution.

President Tinubu had also sent a high-powered delegation to the country to meet with the coup leaders on Thursday.

The delegation led by General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) only met with representatives of the junta.

Subsequently, Niger cuts off ties with Nigeria, Togo, France, its coloniser, and the United States.
