Tension in NDC Ekeremor Constituency 3 After Alleged Directive to Aspirants to Step Down

EKEREMOR – A dispute has broken out within the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) in Ekeremor Constituency 3 after an early-morning meeting on May 27, 2026, where some self-identified party leaders allegedly asked three House of Assembly aspirants to withdraw from the race.

The meeting, said to have been presided over by Mr. Solomon Young and Hon. Mark Ayoro, had in attendance aspirants Hon. Solomon Charles Ikpaka, Hon. Barr. Torke J. Ekpetun, and Hon. Imiemene Stephen.

Attendees reported that the aspirants were told to abandon their ambitions on the basis that Senator Henry Seriake Dickson “does not know them.” The claim drew immediate backlash from the aspirants and their supporters, who labeled the move undemocratic, misleading, unfair, and unacceptable.

Rejecting the directive, the three aspirants walked out of the meeting and affirmed their constitutional right to contest. They also said they did not believe the instruction came from Senator Dickson or the state party leadership, describing the assertion as misleading.

Reaffirming their commitment to due process and internal democracy, the aspirants said they would continue their campaigns in the interest of the people of Ekeremor Constituency 3.
