A frontline aspirant of the chairmanship contest of the forthcoming IYC western zone election, Comr Olu-Derimon Omaghomi has pointed out that he had the pain of the Ijaw nation at heart and that he will get things better for the better when elected.

“We have a number of mind worrying issues to get rid of permanently in the Ijaw nation, and as an Ijaw son who has been in the struggle since my creation I will not rest until these problems are settled.

“In my administration I will focus my strength on the challenges that need a quick solution in the Ijaw nation, particular western Ijaws. Because we need to wipe out those pains permanently. When I’m elected I will rally round stakeholders to complete the ongoing Zonal office building project at Bomadi. I will continue the legacy of Dr Doubra Collins Okotete, the outgoing Western Zone IYC chairman.

“We as Ijaw people one of the challenges we are facing are the delay in completion of the Ayakoromo bridge project, and it needs urgent attention and that has also been in our agenda in the past administration. So what we want to do is to make sure that we draw the attention of the Delta State Government to make sure that the bridge is completed.

“At the same time the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko lacks proper funding. These are areas when we come in we will draw the attention of the federal government.

When I become the chairman we will move around all the 35 clans in western zone and know the problems and challenges faced by these clans and also to proffer solution to their challenges.

“IYC will roll out Programme to empower women in our zone, train them to a level they become self-sufficient and self independence. We are going to play the politics of gender equality”, he added.
