Tragedy as gunmen kill 50 in Ondo Catholic Church

Suspected gunmen have allegedly killed over 50 persons in a gun attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the bandits also killed passersby with stray bullets in the course of the attack.

A close source said the attack occurred during the church’s Sunday service.

According to the source, the bandits stormed the church during service and began to shoot intermittently.

The bandits reportedly detonated explosives in the church premises before shooting randomly.

A witness narrated that some of the injured and the dead persons have been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owo, for medical attention.
