Tribunal Judgement: Sylva, APC Head to Appeal Court

Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum, has expressed his disappointment with the Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal’s judgment on Monday.

Following the verdict, Sylva convened an emergency meeting with party elders and stakeholders, instructing his legal team to appeal the decision at the Court of Appeal.

Sylva had previously raised concerns about the tribunal’s impartiality, citing several irregularities observed during the hearing. He filed an interlocutory appeal seeking the panel’s dissolution and reconstitution.

Sylva stated, “We’re unhappy with the tribunal’s decision, but this is just the first instance. After consulting with our party’s elders and stakeholders, we’ve directed our legal team to pursue justice at the Supreme Court.”

He assured the people of Bayelsa that the Court of Appeal would correct the tribunal’s mistakes, and liberation and justice were imminent for the state’s traumatized citizens.

He urged them to remain positive, law-abiding, and resolute.
