Tricycle riders in Delta State have concluded plans to embark on a peaceful protest against what they described as imposition of incessant ticket levies on them by agencies responsible for the collection of ticket levies on behalf of Delta State Government.

Congress gathered that the angry tricycle (keke) riders convened in Warri during the weekend to strategize on modalities for the peace protest slated on Wednesday.

A close source said the incessant ticket levies imposed on the riders were now unbearable, and that the riders had decided to protest against it.

The source said they would block East-west roads and other major public places to air their voices.

Another rider who pleaded anonymity said the incessant levies had jeopardized the keke transport business, adding that they were assaulted and beaten on a daily basis by the illegal tax collectors on the roadside.

When contacted, the Delta State PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe said the state police headquarters is not aware of the planned protest by tricycle riders.
