Trouble as Community leader, 3 others killed

Suspected gunmen have killed a community leader and three others suspected to be policemen in Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

It was learnt the two police officers who were also allegedly shot dead ran into the scene.

Meanwhile, the Police spokesman, CSP Michael Abattam, of Imo state said he was not aware of the incident which took place on Wednesday.

Besides, the identity of the deceased community leader is still unknown at the time of filing this report.

A community source added that the killing of the community leader, may be related to the power tussle of a traditional title, noting that the suspected person has triggered other killings in the area.

Meantime, details of the incident were still sketchy, the community leader who is equally a titled chief was killed by gunmen at his home alongside his guard who attempted to save him.

It was gathered that the two policemen reportedly killed ran into the gunmen, while one other escaped with a bullet wound.

Our source said a local meat vendor and another woman close to the scene of the incident were also hit by stray bullets.

The incident caused apprehension in the entire community as residents fled to save abhors.

However, Abattam, said the police is yet to be informed about the incident.

According to him, he would contact the Divisional Police Headquarters in the area and get back but was yet to do so at press time.
